Let’s cut through the froth. Former ‘professional student’ Glen Morris finally found his feet in the form of a humble coffee stand in leafy Ann Street outside the Sarina Russo building. This born-again barista decided at age 27 to earn a ‘grown-up wage’ and has been serving the throngs that queue for Glen’s Espresso ever since.
In the no-man’s land between West End and the city, Paladar Fumior Salon looks like it just doesn’t belong in Brisbane. There’s something piratical about its sail cloths, rooftop deck and red-painted timbers; it’s as though it’s docked in the city but briefly en route from Central America.
The sushi train is the ideal way to sample an array of food at one’s leisure. Small portion sizes, lots of choice and the food continues to appear on the never-ending conveyor belt before your eyes.
